Oliver
Oliver had never felt more scared in his life than he did as he ran in behind his brother, who was being rushed into Magistratus on a gurney, blood soaking his shirt. He was terrified that Andrew was going to die. And tha t itâd be his fault.
His memories of what happened were fuzzy.
He remembered his actions. He remembered what he had done, how Andrew had looked in that moment, the acceptance and fear in his eyes as he stared up at his brother, who was wielding the dagger meant to kill him.
Oliver followed the gurney as long as he could, but he was stopped from entering the room Andrew was taken into, as were James and the rest of the Huxley family. Meredith Farley, a good friend of James and Andrewâs who Oliver had met briefly once before, rushed into the room. She had been called to help Andrew as soon as Oliver made the call back to Magistratus. He didnât know how heâd gained control of his body again; he didnât know how or why the possession ended. If it hadnât, Oliver wouldnât have been able to call Magistratus. Andrew would have had no chance of living.
He hadnât realized that he was crying until Peyton turned around and wiped the tears from his cheeks, her thumbs pulling away stained with blood. Oliver cried a little harder when he realized he wasnât sure whether the blood was his own or Andrewâs.
Oliver stood there for a while longer in silence with James. The rest of his family had found seats, so they could wait until they were able to visit Andrew. James stood right up against the window next to the door, hand on the plexiglass. His face was drenched with his tears.
Oliver felt even worse when he saw the warlock crying. He had hurt so many people. His parents, his siblings, James, Andrewâs plethora of friendsâeven Daniella.
He felt the weight in his chest increase when he considered the fact that his family may blame him, and he quickly went into a nearby bathroom and locked the door. He slid down the wall and sat on the floor, pulling his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around them.
What if his parents disowned him or made him leave? As a twenty-year-old, they could make him leave, send him to live in the dorms at his university. With medical school being so stressful, Oliver had enjoyed the stability of life at home.
He pulled his legs tighter to his chest. Someone knocked on the door, and he unlocked it. He stumbled out of the room down the hallway and into a room that he thought was unoccupied. But when he shut the door and looked up, he saw his mom and Daniella sitting together on a small couch and his dad standing nearby.
Melinda was explaining to Daniella what had happened. She said Andrew had woken up briefly during Meredithâs initial examination of him. The witch had quickly drugged him; he was in pain, but he told Meredith about the possession and had asked about their dead team members.
